Judith Bliss, a retired actress, is hoping for a quiet weekend with a young male admirer but, unknown to her, both her husband David (a novelist) and her two grown up children, Sorel and Simon, have also invited guests without telling each other. Once all the guests have arrived the Bliss family live up to their eccentric reputation and eventually end up showing an interest in each other’s guests, resulting in confusion and surprising outcomes. The quiet weekend comes to an exhausting and hilarious ending with the guests seeking an early escape.
